Either. The one you choose. Cheque will be issued in the name of the person who signs the withdrawal form. I am not sure whether we can ask for 50-50 in the two names.

Vide Notification GSR 59(E) dated 10.2.06; the bonus was cancelled for accounts opened on or after 13th February 2006. Further details:

    a. There have been some changes effected in the rules regarding premature withdrawal. For accounts opened on or after the 13th, premature withdrawal will be allowed after one year. However, if such withdrawal is before three years of opening the account, 2% of the deposit would be deducted, else it would be 1%.

    b. According to the Post Office rules, the cheque clearing date is taken as the date of deposit. Therefore, even if you opened your account on the 11th of February, the cheque would clear after say 3 days, making you ineligible for the bonus. Therefore, if you are on the cusp, take care of this point.

    Hope it will help you.

No, you can not add another “owner” in the same account. You must inform the post office about the death of the person along with necessary proof and documents.
    Hope it will help you.

    My mis has been matured.
The monthly interest of the said mis are being deposited in a separate account as recurring deposit account. Both the accounts were opened simultaneously. I was out of station for few years, hence i could not update my pass book. Does that make any difference to me regarding the interest. ??
